Wondering what this is about? Shahrukh Khan a.k.a King Khan of bollywood has agreed to lend his face to team Force India which is due to compete in the 2008 FIA F1 championship season. I like the way the Times of India put it:

True to character, Vijay Mallya has pulled off yet another coup. This time round, he has managed to rope in Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan as the face of Team Force India for the 2008 Formula 1 season

 

  If that isn’t news then nothing is, right? no, not really, the even bigger news is that the badshaah is doing this without taking any money at all!! Now, that I never thought was possible, but then I keep forgetting the adage’s I use myself, everything’s possible when you throw in mallya in to the mix!!  Maybe SRK has recieved some stock options or something else, I do not know and can not fathom because I don’t really uderstand the corporate and money side of the things and they generally bore me. But the basics I do understand; any ad guy even the ones who print pamplets for clinics which promise to imrove your sex-life and stick them in our world class railway compartments know that  Shahrukh Khan a.k.a King Khan is the hottest celebrity anyone can get endorsing their brands, when it comes to impact, no one comes close, not even Big B.

The official quote given out by the marketing head of Force India, Vikram Malhotra is:-

 ”While exploring various options, we thought the fastest way to announce our arrival in the country is to use Shah Rukh Khan as the team’s brand ambassador. He is famous, successful and the most potent icon of young and confident India. Those are the same values that the team is trying to project on the biggest stage of motorsports. The advertising campaign will convey the message that India has arrived,” So, great, now the whole nation will know V.Mallya’s bought a struggling F1 team for 88 million Euro’s and renamed it “Force India” and is racing it in 2008. But will it give you podiums? I highly doubt that. I am already starting to feel sick of some the BS being fed to us and naming the F1 team “Force India”?? only when the season starts will we know, how good it all really is. If you want to read, the full Times article about this ‘coup’ of the UB group, follow the link below. Here’s the link to the Full TOI report.
