England beat the Indian hockey team with a 2 - 0 victory and what that means is that India has failed to qualify for the Olympics for the first time in 80 years. No free trips for the players and the federation’s relatives and friends to Beijing this time! Hockey is our national sport and even in the leanest of patches through which Indian Hockey might have gone through, the Indian team has always at leased qualified for the Olympic games. This time though the whole nation is mourning for the loss and what is worse to see is that every body is playing the blame game, be it the IHF - Indian Hockey Federation, Sports Ministry or the Coaches and Players.

In fact, the old rhetoric about why no body associated with Hockey; players, coaches, IHF is motivated because there is no money in the sport is being bandied about. Aren’t I tired of listening to that. If they can perform well and get themselves popular, money will surely come but they just loose every where these days.

 A fact that came out in the open for the general public is that KPS Gill has been the president for the last 14 years and Indian hockey’s just gone from good to bad and from bad to worse under him. The media also is out with daggers against him because of course there needs to be a scapegoat so it is only plausible that Gill resign quick.
